Portrait circa 1850s.

Portrait by Leopoldo Bearzotti (fl.1868-1880). Strangely, this gent has a green button sewn to his lapel.
N.B: Possibly the green button worn at his lapel is a replacement for the green enamel darts of the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus - until the enamelled button/medal was produced.
Hmm, always nice:

1830s portrait of a woman

The painting had a tear through her left cheek and the repair had become dry and stained.

Cleaning about to begin

The portrait completed.
